HOME > MASQUERADE > GREASY POTTER GREASY  POTTER BEST PRESENTATION - COMIC-CON MASQUERADE 2007 This skit marks The Underground's first appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con Masquerade. Tavariel had been trying to convince the rest of us to participate in the Comic-Con masquerade for quite some time, which is why she came up with our first non-anime related skit idea; a Grease meets Harry Potter parody, later to be entitled Greasy Potter. Due to lack of funding (due to members getting married, studying abroad, moving out, etc) we liked the idea of focusing on the presentation aspect of the skit rather than the costume/craftsmanship aspect, so Greasy Potter seemed like a perfect fit! If you've followed Underground Cosplay's skits over the years, you've probably figured out that we all love skits that involve musicals and ridiculous dancing, and this skit is certainly no exception. In fact, it's pretty much the epitomy of ridiculous dancing musical-ness. In the skit, Draco Malfoy (the Slytherin badboy) takes on the role of Grease's Danny, and Hermione Granger (the Gryffindor goody-goody girl) takes on the role of Sandra Dee... and the result is a chorus of shimmying, chicken dancing, and hand-jiving Hogwarts students! Miaka even taught all of the Undergrounders how to spin brooms and flags, which was a new feat for all of us! Underground Cosplay was presented with the award of Best Presentation, and also The Comic Gallery Stores Industy Prize. This was an incredible honor, as well as an honest surprise, since we really only came to the masquerade to have a good time! We also were very surprised by the enthusiastic response we received from the Draco x Hermione community! The video of our skit was nominated for the second round of the Dramione Awards, and we were voted First Place in the Video Category! Kind of ironic because none of the Undergrounders are huge fans of the Draco/Hermione pairing but we were honored to be recognized nontheless!
